The Intrinsic Project, Labor of Love
I have considered my education, training and experience in teaching the Arts and Disciplines of Old China as my true work and Labor of Love. This is due to the fact that the effort which I have expended has produced an over abundance of positive results. Thanks to Heaven, I have been blessed with the ability to Serve. Therefore in 2019 I consolidated all my previous educational efforts under one umbrella of service called The Intrinsic Project started; a USA 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
It seems that my life work in the Arts and Disciplines have moved and evolved in 10 year increments... here is a summary:

The 70's
Training in the Arts and Disciplines of Asia started in Los Angeles in 1970. Judo, Aikido, Sil Lum (Shaolin) Kung-fu and Tao-ga (Taoist Arts) Later, I attended martial arts tournaments and participated in many public exhibitions. My first visit to Mexico was a martial tournament in the city of Ensenada, Baja California presented by Sensei Ayala in 1973. Had a chance to make $ 7000 usd, appearing as an extra in the 'Kung Fu' TV Series...but declined since I needed to be totally bald for 7 weeks...was too proud...not humble enough. My classmates furthered their careers in appearing in many movies calling for Asian actors. |

The 80's
Training in the Arts and Disciplines continued with Lok Hop Bak Fa (6 Harmonies 8 Methods), Tai Chi Chuan (Grand Ultimate Fist), Tao An Pai (Tao Style) and Chi Kung. Teaching to the public began with working within the community of National City, California. The primary focus was to influence 'at risk' youth towards a life away from the prevalent gang activities, drug and alcohol abuse. Classes were extremely demanding, challenging and considered "old school martial arts --- just next to self-torture". |

The Fundamental Teachings:
1. The 8 Keys: Respect, Endurance, Confidence, Honesty, Patience, Humility, Compassion, Education. 2. Train as much as possible, keep school grades high, no fighting, gang activities, drugs or alcohol abuse 3. Use the Martial Arts as a way to become aware of your positive characteristics and to strengthen them 4. Bring your positive character into your school, family, community and personal relationships 5. Health, Happiness and Prosperity are the goals and achievable results |
The 90's
Training in the Arts and Disciplines continued with Nui Kung (Internal Alchemy). Teachings were focused within the Holistic Communities in Mexico. One of the primary services was introducing the basic 24 Step Tai Chi form, with an emphasis on creating more teachers who would spread this art of exercise throughout Mexico. A secondary purpose was to assist in supporting teachers who were already on the path of teaching the arts of Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Kung and Kung-fu. This service continues today through private and public teaching. |

The 2000's
Teachings were focused within the Shaolin Kung-fu schools in Mexico, which had the direct lineage to the Shaolin Temple through the lineage of Master Ark Yuey Wong > Sifu Ralph Shun > Sifu Manuel Cisneros > Sifu Raphael Amarillas. The primary focus of this project was to introduce the traditional arts, music and ceremony of "Lion Dancing". The teachings were introduced to the organization, which had over 35 martial art schools located throughout Mexico in Jalisco, Chiapas, Tabasco, Baja California, Puebla, Zacatecas, Queretaro and Guanajuato. The final results were that the schools could nourish the Virtue of Unity, to celebrate the Lunar New Year together with their immediate communities and to provide an additional income source to help sustain the expenses of their martial arts schools. Still to this day, Lion Dancing continues throughout Mexico. |

The paper mache lions, highly decorated tails and musical instruments were initially donated by the Sifu Steve Baugh of the Lohans of Las Vegas. www.lvlohans.org
Subsequent donations came from Sifu Jeff Chan and Sifu Al Leong of the Immortal Lions. www.immortalsliondance.com |
The 2010's
The primary focus has been on teaching seminars and consulting privately. One of the martial arts principles of combat is to execute small & simple movements, which create a maximum impact or result. Therefore, as all things wax and wane, the time came to invest precise energy with those individuals or organizations, which had the capacity and desire to greatly impact their communities in a positive way...and with immediate positive results. |

The 2020's
The global pandemic pushed a massive 'reset' button for humanity... a global 'wake-up' call Old paradigms or systems broken... new ones forming ...people trying to re-invent distractions to avoid the work of fulfilling their Life Mission...people more committed than ever in leading a Meaningful Life, with a new sense of empowerment My focus now... still investing the correct amount of energy at the correct time into projects that make the greatest possible positive impact in society. Energy in the form of all the gifts and teachings that I have been blessed to receive still continue to be passed on to others. Sounds like the words of a romantic dreamer? Probably yes... but history shows that we know how to 'get stuff done' with passion and persistence. If you feel the affinity to work together, please feel free to contact us at the non-profit organization that I created. www.intrinsic-project.org Thank you in advance! |
